The following Goodwill Message, was received from David Carry, a former Winner of Aberdeen Sports Council Awards –

As the only voluntary sports body in Scotland the Aberdeen Sports Council does an incredible job of recognising the achievements of athletes of all sports in and around the Aberdeen area. Each year the nomination list seems to be of higher and higher standard and this year is no exception. The number of athletes in the Aberdeen area competing at Scottish, British, European, Commonwealth, World and Olympic level is outstanding. This can only be achieved when combined with world class support and facilities. Facilities such as this curling centre has contributed towards Team Muirhead to become World Champions, the Aberdeen Sports Village has seen dramatic increases of sports participation and the new 50m pool should see a similar increase in participation and performance. All with the backdrop of a post 2012 bounce and pre Commonwealth buzz, these are exciting times and we are hugely fortunate to be involved in sport.
Make the most of it, pursue your ambitions and make it happen.
Best wishes David

We received another Goodwill Message, from an Award Nominee, ahead of the Event, from our Senior Male Award Winner – Olympic Gold Medallist, Tim Baillie MBE –

” Thanks very much for this nomination, I’m very sorry that I can’t be there tonight but I hope you all have a great night celebrating Aberdeen’s sporting success in 2012. It was an amazing year for me personally, the pinnacle of a long career that has had many ups and downs. On reflection it really proved to me that if you love your sport and passionately want to be the best you can be it doesn’t matter where you start from, put the hard work in and you never know where you could end up. Enjoy tonight and savour your sporting moments, all the best, Tim “

The Chairman presented Bouquets of Flowers to Kirsten Reid for all her help, prior to the Awards Evening, and to Katie Barnett, for the work involved in arranging the Awards Presentations.
Cllr Alan Donnelly also assisted with the Service to Sport Awards.
