About Us

Aberdeen Sports Council is an Independent Sports Body within the City of Aberdeen, dealing with a complexity of local sporting matters.

The Executive Committee of the Aberdeen Sports Council are all volunteers who are involved in a wide range of sports within their own rights.

What does it do?

Its main objectives include:-

• To promote interest and participation in Sport and Recreation among Sportsmen, Women and Children within the City of Aberdeen.
• To assist in co-ordinating the activities of the various Sports and Recreational Organisations within the City of Aberdeen
• To assist with the formation of Sports Clubs and Recreational Organisations where none exist, or where existing clubs need help.
• To award grants to Sportsmen, Women and Children within the City of Aberdeen and help them in their pursuit of excellence!

Aberdeen Sports Council has been chosen to assist with the selection and distribution of Grants left in a Legacy by the late Dr Hellen Reith.  For an application form, please click here.

At the Annual Sports Personality Awards Dinner, hosted by Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Sports Council award Trophies in the categories listed below.   Each year, Member Clubs and Associations have the opportunity to Nominate Members in any, or all of the Categories.
